Norman Bambridge Biography
My working careers include being a Track Renewals Planning Officer for British Rail, one highlight of which was laying a railway track outside the Royal Albert Hall for the celebrations of the newly completed full-size working reconstruction of Stephenson's "Rocket" for the Queen and Royal visitors.
After then completing four years designing an updated Computing System for the Directorate of Railway Civil Engineering it was time to move on and accept an offer from Essex County Cricket Club to develop a new Cricket Academy and to be its first Manager / Coach. The technical and structural knowledge acquired enabled consultancy for the Lords new Cricket School as well as other county grounds around the country. This also led onto becoming an Internal Verifier and Assessor for National Vocational Qualifications.
Retirement, if that word exists, has meant great enjoyment in enabling people to understand how Genealogy, Social History and now DNA can be interrogated for family research and in joining my long standing friend and also a senior recreational cricket coach Ken Porter, who worked with my team at Essex County Cricket Club in preserving the local history of Basildon and I very much enjoy giving talks on the varied topics we construct.
